Hi Vision families!
As we are all in the midst of the Christmas Season, I pray you are celebrating this precious time with family and friends. Since our beginning 10 years ago, Vision Volleyball Club has continued our mission to SERVE and give back to our community. This year we have the privilege to partner with the Child Advocacy Centerhere in Gainesville. Here is a list of some of their Immediate needs:
- juice boxes,
- individually packages snacks, granola bars, fruit snacks, cookies, pretzels, etc
- full size feminine hygiene products
- full size body wash and other personal care items (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc) .
We are asking every athlete to bring in a minimum of 2 items, from the list above, to practice next week. These are items they need on a regular basis throughout the year. They use the snacks and juices when children come in for interviews about abuse. It is easier for them to open up about what happened if their tummies aren’t grumbling. It also helps them assess food insecurity issues. They also work with girls that have been trafficked in our area. They are typically in foster care or disconnected from family and have a hard time trusting anyone. Their advocates work with them weekly (sometimes daily) until they are stable. Helping the kids consistently, in small ways such as basic hygiene needs, helps them develop trust. Once trust is established, advocates can help with bigger issues such as placement, GED, re-enrolling in school, and future planning. When they don’t have to purchase these items, they can provide more services to the children and their families. Vision Families, thank you so much for your willingness to help!
There will be a special Christmas surprise for the team that bring in the most items.
Let’s work together to help these kids and share the Christmas Blessing!
Thank you for spreading the love and joy of Christmas,
Director Vision Volleyball Club
